Olympic Torch Prayer Relay and Praise Bus Cumbria 20th-22nd June 2012.
A Prayer Relay of Blessing is following the route of the Olympic Torch as part of a 70 day cascade of prayer around the nation. Christians from York will carry a symbolic prayer baton across the Pennines to Carlisle where they will bring prayers of blessing and hand on the baton to Christians there. The process repeats the next day as Carlisle carries the baton to Bowness-on-Windermere. On Friday 22nd Christians in Bowness will be asked to carry the baton to Blackpool. The Olympic Torch will alsopreceded by a Praise Bus carrying singers and musicians ahead of the torch. Information at More than Gold The Olympic Torch will enter Cumbria on Wednesday 20 June from Barnard Castle around 3.30pm carried via Brough, Appleby and Penrith travelling through Carlisle just after 6pm for an evening celebration in Bitts Park. On Thursday 21st June it will begin its journey in Dumfries and travel back through Gretna, Carlisle (10.23), Wigton, Aspatria, Maryport, Flimby, Workington, Whitehaven Cockermouth, Keswick, Grasmere, Ambleside, Bowness-on-Windermere for an evening celebration on the Glebe. On Friday 22nd June it will leave Kendal Castle at 8.00am leaving the county via Milnthorpe to Carnforth and its next stop in Blackpool.
